Is there any French translation?... I mean do we say this in France (or do we easily condemn)?

 Hi Gérard
I don't know if condemning is French or not but i am sure that good things sometimes come out of bad situations. The only thing is to be strong enough for not paying attention to what meanspirited people around you think.

Hi Gérard : It's nearly the same for me.  The parents used to say to the child "Why haven't you recovered with the médicine the doctor gave you ?"Now they speak to me " why haven't you cured him with your medicine ?" Of course, it's a joke Laughing

Hi everyone,

Isn't this picture nice? Where would you find all of this vocabulary about shoes? You'll look like an expert from now! Smile

Impressive vocabulary, isn't it?

Mind the police though!
If you're a man, they could think you're a bit obsessed with female shoes!! Smile
and would guess it's very weird!

Very good lesson!

However, I'd say this is British English (EnglishIsFun sometimes provides US English, sometimes Br English... without warning).
Americans tend to use conditional instead of simple past in the if clause: "If I would find her address...".

A few examples above are a bit strange to me:
- "we cannot say "if I were going to that concert tonight..." is simply a past continuous, it's more than, for a past continuous, it would be "If I wqas going..."
- "If I didn't have to work so much..." looks American. Brits would rather say: "If I hadn't to work so much...". Now, it's true that British English tends to shift toward Am English
- the pic above forgot the pattern If simple present, then simple present: "If chickens do have teeth, I eat my hat".

These short phrases EnglishIF provides us with are amazing
Don't you think Americans are more positive than we, French?
Years/decades ago, I had the opportunity to take classes by an American organization and there were oodles of such very simple advice!

American people are positive because it is in their genes. Their ancestors must have been positive when they left everything and crossed the oceans to start again;

Hi Muriel,

I do prefer the writing on the picture I posted.

scratch
Looks like Ralph doesn't want to know about the past or the future.
It's impossible, except for an Alzheimer (I write this without really knowing - just an expression)!
OK to live in the present but as for me, the past built what I am (what I know, my way to lead my life) and I cannot ignore it, the future is what I am presently building (despite my age), and I've got oodles of projects, every day, all day long.

Days ago, I referred to an American organization in which I took classes.
We often had to repeat:
"Fais l'enthousiaste, tu seras enthousiaste !"

I do agree!

So true!

NB: "eraser" is the American word for the British "rubber", but take care with the American meaning of "rubber"! lol

hi Gérard
I am sure you have a lot of pojects and I am pleased about that. Again I will try to express myself more clearly.
The present hardly exists but it is the present which builds the world. When you are in the present you are already in the future. The present doen't last indeed doesn't exist. But when I think of elderly people I love i say to myself " Love them now, not to-morrow"
Am I clear ? scratch I am not sure.
