Howdy everyone,

Browsing the Web, I arrived onto a discussion regarding the choice of nicknames for grandparents.
-> Do you have nicknames for your grandparents?
This shows the culture in English speaking countries along with the big choice they have...

> We have one child. When we were pregnant
(posted by Nicki at Domestic Cents March 9, 2009 at 5:56 am)
I could see these words and was stunned.
Apart the figurative meaning, I thought "pregnant" was for the future mother... Is it a mistake? Please could I have explanations from an EMT? thanks!

  • Grandma / Grandpa, grampa
  • Mom, mom mom / Pop, Pop pop, poppy, Pappy, Papa
  • grammie, grammy, gram, Gramma, mawmaw, meemaw / pawpaw, Grampa, Pappy, Pap
  • Grandmother / Granddaddy, granddad
  • Nanny
  • Memere, meme / Papa (French Canadian)
  • Opa / Oma (German origins)

Hi Muriel,

On the list were generic nicknames only, not personalized... I guess Attik is after Patrick and not the room under the roof! Smile
