Spring Date: 21? 20?
Hi everyone,
Today March 20, 2013, is the beginning of Spring in France.
In some countries like Australia (I guess in the US as well), Spring begins on the 1st of the month (September 1 in Australia for spring).
In France, spring (say a season) begins the exact second of equinox; for "civilians", it begins on the day of the equinox.
Till now, it usually occurred on the 21st of a month.
As far as I understood, from now most of the time it will be on the 20th of a month.
The reason of the change is that a year is not 365 days but a bit more and little by little there's a shift... we also say a year is 365 and a quarter days so that we have a leap year every 4 years.
This leap year is not enough, not exact enough for scientists so that despite the correction by leap years, there's still a shift: it leads to a change in the equinox and solstice which will occur on the 20th instead of the 21st and afaIk on the 19th from year 2044.

She is in a very good health , brainy and with a good sense of humor. I wish i were so well at that age..
She can be compared to gisèle Casadesus, 99 years old, and still playing the role of a nice and wise grand-mother (as far as I can gather from the interview she gave on tv lately).
Her film was out yesterday : SOUS LE FIGUIER.
So, happy birthday to your mother , with our very best wishes.

Thank you very much you two. I also saw Gisèle Casadesus's interview the day before yesterday. Her husband died when he was 100 years old. She had been married with him, her one and only love, during 72 years. Is n't it amazing ?

Hi Guilaine, Gérard !
My mother gave me a ring this morning. I told her that you had expressed your best wishes for her birthday and she was delighted. Best thanks to you.

Hello Muriel,
Why did i first think when reading your message that your mother gave you a RING ??
It ´s only after the second attempt at understanding what you meant that I grasped you talked with her on the phone ! Funny, isn ´ it ? Orally, I'm sure I would never have misunderstood.

Hi everyone,
I post in this topic though I will be speaking about Summer.
Today at TV news the lady in charge of weather forecasts said that today, June 1, was the beginning of Summer for meteorologists.
It's not the first time I hear this.
For professionals of weather, a season begins on the 1st of March, June, September, December.
It's the same in Australia and in the USA, seasons begin on the 1st day of the month and not on the 20, 21, 22!!

Hello Guilaine, Gérard, everyone.
Ok but I was so excited about being on June 21 and the beginning of the sunny season. Winter will last all through the year then
