In the newspaper Les Echos, the interview of a french successfull entrepreneur based in the silicon Valley.
He says that the french problems of administration, argued by entrepreneurs,are a detail because, in fact, there are many more important problems that a entrepreneur must face. If he (or she) is not able to overcome administration problems, it's no use to begin a business.
The difference, according to this man, between France and the Silicon Valley, lies in mentality. In the USA, if you don't try to create a business, you are not normal. In France, on the contrary, it is often frowned upon.

To my mind, however, it is changing. But we don't have yet a silicon valley.

I think it is the relationship with money which is different. For most french people, il you want to create a business, it is just because you like money, so people don't like you.

However, people create their business because they are creators in their soul. Creation is more exciting that just doing your "quiet job", but it demands to jump over a step. And it is not made for everyone. Of course, if you succeed, you can earn much money. So what ?

If you live in a silicon valley, it's easier to jump the step. But, with crisis, in France, people are aware that it is important to create new activities. Moreover, new technologies are emerging, so it is a good time for start-up (and other business).

Of course, nobody is compelled to create a start-up. Only a few people are concerned. Or a business.

For myself, I have never made any business, and I'm very satisfied of that. I don't criticize the entrepreneurs and, at the same time, I prefer my situation...

Of course they are.

But a problem is that entrepreneurs are needed.
A country needs everything from people offering jobs to people taking jobs and France needs a good balance which is not the case (but Europe would be better).
There are other ways than jobs to create and fill our needs in life.
