Is French really the Language of the Future?
Hi everyone,
European Observatory for Plurilingualism
Is French really the Language of the Future? According to a study by the investment bank Natixis, French will become “the world’s most spoken language” by 2050. Given the doom and gloom typically accompanying stories about France’s waning influence in the world, it’s no surprise that this bit of counter-intuitive fortune telling has proved tantalizing to journalists.

Hi everyone,
well, even if french becomes the first native language in the world around 2050, it won't probably become the universal language, as english is today, just because France won't be the superpower of the world...
unless Europe becomes the dominant country

Hi Remy,
I don't think French becoming the 1st language in the world refers to the froggies but to the language itself, especially the one spoken by many people in Africa.
The language of people living in France might not be the correct French language! LOL
or if Africa becomes the main continent !Remy a écrit:... unless Europe becomes the dominant country

You are quite all right, Gérard,
french spoken Africa could be dominant, provided she becomes unified; there could be the same relationship between her and France than between USA and Great Britain..
however, France destiny is at once in a close partnership with Africa, and at the same time to belong to the European Union

Re: Is French really the Language of the Future?
Remy,
There's the Sommet de la Francophonie in Dakar.
I think African leader like this event along with our language and they will try to stay together to be stronger.
We're now waiting for African students in France to go back to their country and create companies there as everything has to be built in Africa (instead of Europe).
