Like everyone else I can read in Wikipedia what  "Puff the magic dragon" is about.

"Puff, the Magic Dragon" is a song written by Leonard Lipton and Peter Yarrow, and made popular by Yarrow's group Peter, Paul and Mary in a 1963 recording. The song achieved great popularity.


The lyrics for "Puff, the Magic Dragon" were based on a 1959 poem by Leonard Lipton, a 19-year-old Cornell University student.^[1] Lipton was inspired by an Ogden Nash poem titled "Custard the Dragon", about a "realio, trulio little pet dragon

. Unfortunately I don't know anything about that. I can just tell you why I like that song so much. When I  was studying English in Lille University I spent 2 consecutive summers as an au pair for an English family, living on a Wirral estate, not very far from Liverpool. I had two female friends. One of them played the guitar and sang beautifully. My favourite song was "Puff the magic dragon". At that time I was no longer in my teens but I had a child's heart. I found the story sweet but extremely sad.

Dragons live forever but not so little boys

When little boys grow older they stop playing in a magic world. Dragons are left on their own full of sorrows and very sad.
Do you think the magic world is totally unattainable for adults or is it possible for them to enter it if they keep their child's heart ?
