As you can see here, "crayon" exists in English.
People like French poshy words and they didn't transform them,
they just pronounce them as well as they can
(Americans usually care less).

Re: Staying Alive is Not Enough -4-
Hi Muriel,
"Hump day" is an informal American expression.
It's the equivalent of the German "Mittwoch" ie the middle of the week.
As you know, a "hump" is a kind of bump (note both words differ with a letter only) ie (think of a road) something that goes up then down.
(as frequently, the verb has a sexual meaning so be careful with it)
Imagine the week is a road linking a weekend to the following weekend. "Hump day" designates Wednesday as Monday and Tuesday are the tough days (the coming weekend is so far as we have the impression to climb a hill); Thursday and Friday are easier as they announce the weekend (we've the impression to go down the hill); in between is "Hump day" like a pass in the hill/week.
I'm very pleased these funny pictures and short messages/sayings taught you new expressions: I re-publish them here on that purpose.MurielB a écrit:Hi Gérard, everyone !
