Muriel, I personally use LEO for German.
Regarding English, tho we usually say a full English dictionary is the best choice, I'm not ready to replace my bilingual Hachette-Oxford Dictionary: lots of nuances, lots of details, expressions, etc.

I realize it's the first time I write this but I confirm: IMHO a very good bilingual dictionary is better than a full English one as thanks to my comprehension of French, I get the exact meaning of an English word.
A full English dictionary is designed for native English people (at least those who are courageous enough ), the provided details don't match the necessary nuances of French.
Use a full English dictionary is useless; if I want to read long sentences in English, I prefer to read other texts than paragraphs of a dictionary.
