Re: space conquest
... why not transform CO2 into C and O2 ie get rid of Carbon dioxide?

Re: space conquest
Yes it could make us live in space but also it could transform cities and make buildings capable of generating their own oxygen. The prospects for the future are not that bleak !

Hi Gérard, everyone !
I didn't know the expression "to take a hit" and I wanted to share what I have found on the internet
I didn't know the expression "to take a hit" and I wanted to share what I have found on the internet
"Take the hit" can mean a pragmatic acceptance of a bad situation, usually financial. It's akin to 'absorb the blow'.

Scientists achieve major milestone in making Mars habitable
Howdy.

Researchers explain that it should be possible to turn Martian soil into brick by doing little more than applying some pressure.
Scientists achieve major milestone in making Mars habitable
If humans ever stay on Mars long-term, chances are we'll need to be able to build structures without having to ship materials 50 million miles from Earth.

Want to go to space? Here are your options
https://futurism.com/want-go-space-options
Initially, the cost of a ride on one of these rockets will be hundreds of thousands of dollars at a minimum. That puts the experience within reach of only the wealthiest people. But advances in rocket and capsule design are expected to lower the price to the point that people of more modest fortunes are able to afford a ticket.

Re: space conquest
Do you think space travel could be a solution to pollution problems ? today pollution is a very important problem in the world. Around us there is lots of rubbish, water is unhealthy and air not very clean. The privileged constantly search for new experiences and maybe, one day, these expensive travel trips will help mankind to settle in another planet.

New frontier for sapce and exploration
Reaching the Moon, Mars and beyond
For success in space exploration in the years to come, we will need to continue along the exponential curve of open source uptake and see advances in the approach to how spacecraft software, hardware and infrastructure is developed and deployed. I believe this is only possible with a truly open and collaborative mindset.
With this baseline in place, advances in AI-driven scientific research have the potential to propel us forwards and take advantage of human knowledge and expertise while machines handle the processes traditionally managed by engineers.
With the number of government organisations and commercial companies involved in the space economy at an all-time high, it is undeniably an exciting time to be involved in space exploration.

Re: space conquest
Hello everyone
I remember very well the first steps on the moon in 1969 because I had been up all night. Today I realize that the conquest of space is of interest to many countries because its impact on the world is very important. Man manufactures and puts into orbit artificial satellites to observe and study the functioning of the planet Earth in a wide variety of scientific fields, such as forecasting weather, studying the atmosphere or GPS They are also used for radio communications, including satellite television and the Internet. They can also be used for military purposes, for example in the fight against terrorism or espionage between different countries. All major countries must participate in the space conquest. However, living on the moon will not be so easy and conquering the planet Mars even less. However, the human species needs to understand. Space and planets present a mystery they want to solve

Gerard, I heard the Engie's CEO Isabelle Kocher refer to the recycling of atmosphere's CO2 into fuel, quite recently. This process is the subject of researches...

space X is amazing
https://www.spacex.com/launches/
Hi everyoneOn Saturday, May 30 at 3:22 p.m. EDT, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launched Crew Dragon’s second demonstration (Demo-2) mission from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and the next day Crew Dragon autonomously docked to the International Space Station. This test flight with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board the Dragon spacecraft returned human spaceflight to the United States.
It is necessary to emphasize the importance of this launch, both for SpaceX and for the future of space flight in general. For the company, it is another step on their journey to Mars. More generally, it demonstrates that such flights are not necessarily reserved for the most powerful States. Right now, at about 11 p.m., in the Calais sky, we can see a star moving like a shooting star. It is SpaceX

Re: space conquest
I am really amazed to see so much money and energy being spent on this project. Man really needs to explore what's around him. It reminds me of Kennedy's "The New Frontier" text.
Curiosity is one of the characteristics of the human beings. They are also extremely social. That's the reason why sapiens is the only one of his species to have remained until today. There has been a lot of crossbreeding with the other human branches: Denisova's man, Neanderthal man etc. Anyway, everyone else's genes have been diluted in those of sapiens because sapiens liked contacts while the others remained clan-based.. It was an America that would actively work towards Disarmament while pushing to explore a universe that lay beyond our skies and in the space above it.

would you accept a mission to colonise another planet if it means never returning back ?
Would you accept a mission to colonise another planet if it means never returning back to earth ?
After the film Passenger(film synopsis = While 5,000 long-sleeping passengers travel through space to a new planet, two of them are accidentally pulled out of their artificial sleep 90 years too early. Jim and Aurora must now accept the idea of spending the rest of their lives on board the spacecraft. As they gradually feel an undeniable attraction, they discover that the ship is in grave danger. The lives of the thousands of sleeping passengers are in their hands...), we can ask ourselves if travel in space is possible for human beings even though it means leaving the earth forever ? Will the curiosity or the overpopulation of the planet decide us ? Only future will tell us the answer ! Do you have a opinion ?

In the 19th century in the United States, poor people wanted to conquer the western territories in order to survive. Today, if the land is no longer liveable because of pollution, young people will try to colonise à planet, I am sure of that. For the people of my generation it's much too late.

Health problems in space
However, attention will have to be paid to health problems
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3490786/
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3490786/
Several consistent medical problems have been encountered by astronauts during space flights. These include vestibular dysfunction, weight loss, increase in height, upward fluid shift, anemia, cardiovascular deconditioning, muscle atrophy, and bone loss. Almost all of these alterations can be attributed to the absence of gravitational force. Most are adaptive in nature and therefore reversible, but readaptation after returning to earth may cause further problems (e.g., in the case of vestibular dysfunction). The most recalcitrant and disturbing of all these problems is the relentless bone loss associated with negative calcium balance. This problem appears to be irreversible, and critical demineralization can occur after two years in a weightless state. Unless its mechanism is elucidated and preventive measures are taken, the bone loss may prove to be the medically limiting factor for the duration of space flight.

Mars: Nasa's Perseverance rover sends stunning images
=>See images
Nasa's Perseverance rover landed on Mars at 20:55 GMT on 18 February after almost seven months travelling from Earth.
Since then, it has sent back some amazing images from around its landing site, Jezero Crater, a 49km (30-mile) wide impact depression just north of the Red Planet's equator.
Here is a selection of the pictures sent back from the mission, as Perseverance hunts for signs of past microbial life, seeks to characterise the planet's geology and past climate, and collects Martian rock.
