Which language is easier: French or English?
I find on YouTube a 17mn interesting video (in French), which can figurate how easy is to learn english when you're french.
I want just share this video because it's exciting for people who love language.
By the way, I find that the whole channel is exciting!!

Re: Which language is easier: French or English?
Hi Muriel, Florent,
In the beginning, when I saw the head of the guy, I thought it would be another funny and caricatural speech on this common subject.
I listened to the video till the very end and concluded it was very serious and bloody important and clear.
It's rather comprehensive though we could add a few points. I often write about the difficulties of the French with English but I usually point out the numerous sounds of English vowels and the necessity to catch subtle sounds (1/4th second) that make a difference in meanings... which explains the short words (inside the short word, there's the key sound); in addition, the French are not used to rich sounds and I say can't hear everything and miss important instants.
I could get new points in the speech (that I didn't point out) such as Globish, Franglais, unnecessary language...
I think a few points should be added such as phrasal verbs, or the variety of English "tenses" (no special conjugation but subtle different patterns).
I decided to provide the link in my next email to the members of Roundtable (the name of the language meetings in Ermont) so that we can comment especially with our Australain and German members.
Thanks again Florent!

Florent,
I'm going to write a short "tutorial" about YouTube in "Hot line technique"... not exactly about all of the buttons we can see but with those we don't see I mean the interesting feature that we often forget to take advantage of.
Would you like to take a look at it (within a day) to add things if needed.

Gérard
I'm OK to have a look on your tuto.
I think it's better to explain just "how to look at videos on the forum" than a complete tuto on "how to use YouTube". Don't you think so?
Last week, I discover Wink, which is a cool soft to do tutos!
By the way, do you see other video from this guy? It's interresting too!

Re: Which language is easier: French or English?
Florent,
I ended the tutorial.
I wrote something rather "advanced". I mean I wanted to point out interesting features such as the possibility to slow down the speed in order to, for example, better understand a speech in English that is too fast, or the possibility to display the words that are said and even to get their translation.
Regarding the speech itself, I sent the link to the members of "Roundtable" (my language group in Ermont) so that we can discuss next week.
