Trip to LA, my "California dream"
Hi everybody
I'm invited to my cousin, who is expatried to Los Angeles for business. I'll 10 days from may 25 to june 5. My return tickets are booked with the departement for disability from Air France. I'm very exited. Do you have any idea of what is fun to visit in wheelchair in LA?
Re: Trip to LA, my "California dream"
Hi Florent.
I never visited L.A. You're lucky to go there, enjoy the trip.
What you could visit depends on your character but I'd say anything new is a wonder.
When I go abroad, I open my eyes to detect all of the differences with my usual neighborhood, asking myself what is better, and how, and why...

Hi, Florent ! Good news, you must be looking forward to it ! No doubt your cousin will help you find the right sites to visit. And the Tourism Office will find places accessible to wheelchairs. Tell us if they are more advanced than we are in that domain !
Have a nice trip !

Re: Trip to LA, my "California dream"
I'm exiting, my travel begins next week!!
My cousin live in Burbark, a small residential city in the suburb of the huge Los Angeles.
He find me a local guide (20 years old student in nursery) to take care of me, drive, and play the tourist with me. Hope is a nice person and we'll stick out together!

Florent,
I'm very happy the trip is so close now.
You are an easy-going guy so it'll be fine.
Of course you know you can't expect things to be like in France: no worries, Americans have a different way of life, trust them, live at their rhythm and enjoy.
Open your eyes, don't comment in a negative way and they will love you (don't be too Frenchie )

Re: Trip to LA, my "California dream"
For my 10 days journey, we will travel 4 days out of LA and the other 6 days we only visit in LA and around: it will be only one day trip.
For the long trip, I planned:
- day 1: road from LA to Las Vegas (450km 5 hours), short visit of Las Vegas, then road from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon (450km 5 hours)
- night 1: we'll spend to night in an hostel / motel / backpacker in or near Grand Canyon
- day 2 complete day to visit Grand Canyon, and then road from Grand Canyon NP (National Park) to Zion NP (160km 3 hours) in the end of the day
- night 2: hotel in Zion NP
- day 4 complete day to visit Zion NP
- night 2: hotel in Zion NP
- day 3: back from Zion to LA (720km 7 hours road)
Can someone confirm the distances and help me to find nice stuffs to do?

Hi Florent
Do you remember Daniel who regularly attended Calais polyglot café up to May when he left ? He comes from California and might help you. He is registered on that forum and you could send him a private message couldn't you ? His user name is Daniel with a number attached to it. He is very nice and friendly

Re: Trip to LA, my "California dream"
@Muriel: I have just written a message to Daniel805 I hope he'll answer
@Remy: San Francisco is 620km far away from LA. Too far for a trip and I want to stay a couple of days in LA visiting my family!
I tried to find a place to sleep in (or near) Grand Canyon. Do you think it's better (cheaper) out of a National Park?

Re: Trip to LA, my "California dream"
Yesterday night, after a good trip, I have no more energy to write a big message. The fight was happend like forcast (even if I choose Daech Airline) What's more, one passenger missed hîs plane so there was a free place in the plane. And try to guess where? Just the seat close to me! So I had 2 places for me alone, pretty cool, no?
So the plane arrived with one minute left, and I passed the customs without any problem. I said to the custom officer "Are you sure you wanna disable like me in the US" He answers "Go ahead sir, I take the risk".
Then my cousin picked me up and we arrived 1H30 later to join his 40km away house in the traffic of the jungle of LA; I'm no more longer with my bike!

Re: Trip to LA, my "California dream"
Hello, Florent !
Nice to hear from you, after such a long trip.
You seem to be all right, funny to read the story at the Customs Office !
And about the jungle of LA... You know the meaning here in Calais. No comparison, I suppose.
Anyway, ENJOY : open your eyes as well as your ears, and store plenty of things to remember.

Hi Florent
I have just transferred your post into Polyglot chats : Voyages, travels, Reisen, viajes, viaggi, etc. where one can choose the language they want to write with. Patrick wants to write to you in French. Anyway, keep writing in English please because it blends in with the local color.

Here are the 46 pictures I hold back https://www.flickr.com/photos/bef62/albums/72157671241873145
Don't hesitate to have a look and correct my english. I'll apreciate!

Hi Florent ! I've just seen all your photos. Wonderful the ones you chose to post here ! Some made me smile, such as the lifeguard pillar-box or the blue white red pistols at the petrol station !
Of course a few more comments would have been appreciated, but still we can see you are keeping good memories of the trip. Have you been to Death Valley when in Las Vegas?
