Robert Burns
Today, January 25th is Burns night, Robert Burns, Scottish poet (January 25th 1759-July 21st 1796). Burns night is celebrated with a dinner of Haggis, Scotch whisky and recitation of his poetry. Robert Burns is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland; did you know that French used some words from him to make the song :"Ce n'est qu'un au revoir"

Robert Burns
He is famous in France for one of his songs translated :"Ce n'est qu'un au revoir" (Auld lang syne) often used at New Year's Day.
" For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup o'kindness yet
For auld lang syne "
It's well known in many English-speaking countries and is often sung to celebrate the start of the New Year at the stroke of midnight.
