Finland : The country where fathers spend more time with kids than mothers
A dad cheers his daughter on the sports field in Helsinki, Finland. ‘This is not about the mother’s right or the father’s right – but the child’s right to spend time with both parents.’ Photograph: Jussi Eskola

To-day is "La journée de la femme " in France and I have come across that interesting article I wanted to share. Finland represents gender equality and family harmony. Both parents usually go back to work after their baby was born. A pregant woman only pays a nominal price for her care and is offered a four months of paid maternity leave. The father a little more than 2 months maternity leave. On top of that the couple can share an additional five-plus months of paid parental leave.
Anyway most professions are still dominated by the male gender but the government si actively fighting against that.
From paid paternity leave to universal daycare, Finland is closing the gender gap. What can it teach the rest of the world?

Iceland is even better
Iceland has become the first country in the world to make it illegal to pay men more than women.
Under the legislation, companies and government agencies with more than 25 employees will be required to obtain government certification for their equal-pay policies.
Those failing to demonstrate pay equality will face fines.
