Especially during the pandemic, the video-sharing app has provided free entertainment for millions of teenagers. But serious ethical and privacy issues remain. ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, is based in Beijing and subject to Chinese laws that require companies to work with government intelligence agencies if asked. There can be no guarantee that your private information won’t be shared with the Chinese government.

TikTok has rapidly taken its place alongside Instagram or Snapchat as one of the giant social networks. The rise has been rapid in 2020 thanks to covid19 lockdown. It is the first chinese social media platform to go global. There is a problem though. That harmless fun app could be a piece of chinese spyware. US military, some civilian companies, India etc...  have consecuently banned soldiers from using it
