Guy Fawkes Night
Guy Fawkes Night , which can be translated into French as Guy Fawkes' Night , is an event that is celebrated every year, mainly in Great Britain , on the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot on November 5, 1605, the day on which English Catholics led by Robert Catesby , accompanied by Guy Fawkes and eleven other conspirators, attempted to blow up Parliament. The plot failed and the conspirators were arrested and executed. Bonfire Night , as it is also known, also commemorates the escape of King James I from the assassination attempt.

Re: Guy Fawkes Night
The day before the festivities, theNovember 5th, Guy Fawkes figures are prepared by children in competitions between schools, cakes are also prepared and the selected puppet is burned as a symbol, in the name of the town. Once the bonfires are lit, at nightfall, children wearing Guy Fawkes masks ask passers-by for "A penny for the guy" so that they can give some coins to buy fireworks.
