If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

In what language do people recite at a play, and play at a recital?

Ship by truck, and send cargo by ship?
Have noses that run and feet that smell?
Park on driveways and drive on parkways?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?
How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell another?

Super d'avoir indiqué ces phrases qui témoignent de la difficulté de l'orthographe française, Muriel, mais je n'ai pas compris : je vis ces vis ?? Tu peux expliquer ??
Pour le mot résident (nom), la nouvelle orthographe : "résidant" est également acceptée. Mais celle-ci peut maintenant prêter à confusion avec le participe présent.

"Je vis ces vis" le pluriel de "vis" (Tige métallique destinée à s'enfoncer) est "vis" et "vis" est le passé simple du verbe voir. C'est du moins ce que j'ai compris.

Ah oui, bien sûr, je cherchais plutôt sur le verbe "vivre", et non sur le verbe "voir". Pardon !

Even the English expressions were tricky for me to decipher !
So, I really feel sympathetic to non-English people trying to understand.

As for the French ones, oh là là, I am still studying them and trying to "figure them out" !
