Re: Internet English Resources -various sources
Hi there.
I just changed the title of this thread; never good to have oodles of empty threads, better to have several posts in each thread.
This, instead of "Internet English Resources from the British Council", it will be a more general title: "Internet English Resources -various sources"".
This way, we can find personalized thread dedicated to big sites like EnglishIsFun (Facebook), Grammarly.com, Online English Teacher Monika.
in this one, there will be a series of good Internet English sites where to find lessons and exercises: British Council or others.
Have fun with English Learning!

Hi everyone,
Here's a message I posted on June 16:
Here's a message I posted on June 16:
Hi everyone,
As members of the Café Polyglotte sur le Net, we are trying to learn English.
As parents, we are also interested in good free resources on the web to help our children or grandchildreN.
We need good resources. We don't really need lots of resources but a collection of them give us the possibility to choose the best of everyone.
Here's another web site which might be useful:
-> LearnEnglish Teens
This web site is designed by the British Council. We all know how careful the British are to provide help to teach their language to foreigners.
I didn't check the entire site yet but could take note of a few point:
3 tabs:LearnEnglish | LearnEnglish Kids | TeachingEnglish
- Home
- English skills practice (Life in the UK | Video UK | Short stories & poems | Read at your level)
- Grammar & Vocabulary (Grammar snacks | Fast phrasals | Vocabulary exercises)
- Exams (Exam listening | Exam reading | Exam speaking | Exam grammar & vocabulary | Exam study tips)
- Freetime (Video zone | Games | Photo captions | What is it?)
- Magazine (Books | Entertainment | Fashion | Life around the world | Music | Science and Technology | Sport)
Take advantage of this, there should be lots of goodies there.

Re: Internet English Resources -various sources
Hi everyone,
Another good online resource I would like to point out to is TheFreeDictionary.
Needed you information regarding the use of a word, you could search into a common dictionary.
If you need information on an expression, an idiom or other compound words, it's more difficult with traditional dictionaries. Well in this case use TheFreeDictionary which is a mix of Google and a dictionary.
Try it!
Note that it's not a bilingual dictionary: you won't find a translation but a monolingual which is far better to improve Learning.
The FreeDictionary is created by users and continuously improved thanks to the Internet.
In addition, The FreeDictionary is available in many languages:
Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
Do you know The Oatmeal?
... they deal with grammar too!
-> How and Why to Use Whom in a Sentence?
You will see that if the French are good at grammar, it's not the case in every country
