Who wants synonyms?
Who wants to be savvy at English?

Hm this pic is way too simple.
In fact, modal verbs are very rich
and can express oodles of subtle nuances.
A pity!
Let's say this picture is an invitation to learn more.

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
Hi Muriel,
If possible (in my case, it's easy as I've many opportunities to write or speak English), don't learn by heart!
Or, if you don't have many opportunities, lean one or two words by heart, not a long and boring list.
Keep the pleasure!
Simply, use these words as often as possible.
To begin with, use them in a written task eg on the forum (so that you can check in the list), then use them vocally eg in a café polyglotte (if you can't remember the word, learn it when back home then use it again in a speech).
The café polyglotte (both on Internet and at the café) provide you with opportunities: take advantage of it!
Please, keep the pleasure when you learn.

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
Hi everyone,
If you're an advanced speaker in English, you absolutely have to be comfortable with synonyms.
Otherwise,
- you would look like an immigrant just able to use good or bad, or very good, or very bad, and nothing in between while there are oodles of words to express your thoughts
- you would look like an old picture in black and white
- you'd look like a computer screen dated 1990s with CGA colors
- you'd look like low resolution pic with squares and scales instead of a smooth curve.
Do you want this?? Become comfortable and even savvy with synonyms!!
So?
Happy... and a little, very, not, much... (poor language)
Or the 11 words provided in the last list?

Sorry for my blurry large picture.
For some reason the pic disappeared immediately from their web site
and the only thing I could do was enlarge my small pic myself
and lose resolution, of course.
