Very interesting figures.
I could exchange with a guy who was born in former Yougoslavia
and told me his mother language was spoken by a tiny number of people (I don't remember).
He now lives in Austria and speaks English and German.

Gosh! It's published by The Economist!!I didn't read the entire article yet; The Economist is really extremist!!
God this is a horror! An approximate version of English, with a limited vocabulary of just a few hundred words, would suffice.
Just tactics to get rid of French and set English everywhere!
How can we live with 100 words!!??

Hi Gérard, everyone
With The globish language there are a limited number of words (100), no accent, no grammar, no culture
but we can communicate with one another about very basic things.

I wonder what interesting discussion people can have with 100 words!
I guess we can speak about the weather and that's all; where is the culture?

Gérard, you can say if you are hungry, sick or cold that's all !
You can't express what you feel about evolution or the hypothetical presence of a transcendence.

Re: European Observatory for Plurilingualism
Yes and it is very interesting to hear all the languages spoken among the players. In fact sign language is enough because there is nothing much to say.

The government’s Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) tests were repeatedly mentioned as the main barrier to children’s learning
