Deadline to stop the FDA from approving GMO salmon

Any day now, the first genetically modified animal ever to enter our food supply, AquaBounty salmon, could be approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

This fish hasn't been proven safe for humans. But the FDA may approve it based on a limited, flawed, and inadequate study — despite the fact that the same study identified elevated allergy-causing potential,1 and elevated levels of the IGF-1 growth hormone, which is linked to colon, prostate and breast cancers.

That’s why we’re joining Senator Jeff Merkley in a last-ditch effort to demand the FDA reject approval of GMO salmon.

Hi Muriel, hi everyone,

This doesn't concern the USA but I find important to point out Russia's freedom while the French have to keep trying to ban GMOs in our country because of Europe.
I discuss this point with Susan and explained to her that in the US, they tend to ignore Washington while in Europe, we need to take all of the 25-56 (?) countries together so that Brussels has got lots of power. ;(

Russia will not import GMO products, the country’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said, adding that the nation has enough space and resources to produce organic food.

Moscow has no reason to encourage the production of genetically modified products or import them into the country, Medvedev told a congress of deputies from rural settlements on Saturday.

I don't know much about GMO crops. I ask Patrick
Patrick has told me that GMOs are useful from a scientific point of view. Some medicines come from GMOs. Scientists must help science to progress for humanity's sake. When you let this research into the hands of people who are unethical, it might be extremely dangerous. what they want is money. Look at what is happening in Africa. The promotion of GMOs as solution is too often disrespectful to African culture. In our world ethics is so important. I wish politicians could have more.
The only thing I am sure is that it is important to label properly.
Vermont is on track to become the first state to label genetically modified foods
This bill is very good for the Americans.

Chemicals are not necessary to food.
In France, groups ask for ban.
In the United Sates, they ask for customer awareness: a clear label on food packaging, then customer do what they wish, buy or not.
American customers just want to know what they eat.

Vermont is the first state to vote for GMO Labelling.
