Hi. Welcome again to www.engvid.com. I’m Adam. Today’s lesson is about pronunciation and phonetics. Now, I said there’s going to be a secret on how to improve your pronunciation in English – here’s the secret. Are you ready? There is no secret. It takes hard work, it takes practice, it takes perseverance. You have to do things, you have to practice things, you have to use your dictionary. You always have to keep working at it, that’s the secret. But I’ll give you a little bit of a tip on how to make this a little bit easier for yourself. Okay?

Muriel,
The title is not " How to look like a native..." -> I guessed you were about to tell us to buy an umbrella and a derby hat
... but "How to sound like a native...": let's not confuse.
~~
Sure, first thing, especially for a French person, is to learn about English pronunciation.
It's not as Crucial as Italian pronunciation but close!

Ok Gérard, I have corrected my mistake. For those who don't know the difference, here is the explanation. When you look like an English person You resemble an English person. When you sound English, your accent is like the one of an English speaker and you have reached the inaccessible star !

Yes, as often in English there are several words corresponding to one word in French.
Let's not apply the French pattern to the English language!
- faire -> to make, to do, etc.
- sembler -> to look, to sound, to taste, etc.
- dire -> to tell, to say, to state, to claim, etc.
