Cultural genocide of native Canada in 20th century
Last month, a ceremony was held in Ottawa (Canada) to officially close the Truth and Reconciliation Commission for autochthon schools. For decades, children torn from their families against their sandstone were placed in these institutions and many died there. Over 1.4billions of aboriginal children (Canadian native, Inuit & Metis) were in those Dikensonian establishments from 1883 to1998: The project was to eradicate indigenous people as distinct legal, cultural and religious groups. . There was physical and sexual abuse and 6000 died by disease and suicide in those brutal boarding schools
The commission was set up as part of the settlement of class-action lawsuit created in 2005 and the governement has so far paid out C$1.4billions in compensation.
