Re: Language Learning Base -2-
Gérard I didn't know that you're toast meant=>you're in a lot of trouble and tantrum=>a fit of bad temper. It is very suggestive for an IPad which is broken.

Re: Language Learning Base -2-
Hi Muriel,
You're right to have read several times... my advice is: "read the right expressions only" as, at your level, you must deal with exceptions to the (grammar) rules and you must record "the music" in your head.
I mean that regarding your mother language, you don't rely on grammar rules but on what you heard or read tens/hundreds of times to know if it is right or not ("Je n'ai jamais entendu cette expression") - do the same with English.

I don't say: "Don't bother with the grammar" but that you must go beyond grammar and deal with exceptions - I mean "with everything" - rely on music ("the bell" that rings or not).

Re: Language Learning Base -2-
Hi Muriel,
ID was a very common word when I workd as an IT guy.
Another word we used that I never found in a dictionary was "credentials".
In my dictionary, "credentials" is described as Fr "capacités/qualifications" or "pièce d'identité", "lettres de créance" but our use was close to the French "coordonnées"; it included last name, first name, position, email address, etc.
Google gives definitions that are closer to the one I wrote hereabove.

Adjectives ending in ED and ING
Adjectives that end ‘-ed’ (e.g. ‘bored’, ‘interested’) and adjectives that end ‘-ing’ (e.g. ‘boring’, ‘interesting’) are often confused.
Adjectives ending in -ed show what has happened to a person or thing.
Adjectives ending in -ing show the effect which something has on a person or thing.
Example: If you meet someone who makes you laugh then he is amusing. You are always amused when you speak to him.
