You might mean to research thoroughly, do you? In such case, the use is not applicable (in such case, the verb is intransitive - we have to rake thru our brain).

Gérard my answer was about " A problem is a chance for you to do your best"and wanted to say that when we use 100 per cent our brain, it is so much better than when we don't make any effort. Anyway I have made a mistake it is not "to ~~rake~~" it is to rack our brain.

I confirm it's better to be picky as there're far too many crazy guys... I don't want to discuss with Trmp, nor Boris Johnson, nor Kim Jong Un... On the other hand, so many exciting things... Smile

Gérard I agree but when I come across somebody very different from me (In a "café polyglotte"for instance) i like to exchange ideas, when I come across an article or a book i wouldn't have chosen to read I am curious about it, when I come across a dish I have never tried before I appreciate. Anyway I also think it is important to be picky about the people you regularly hang out with and it is also important to stop feeding your mind with rubbish

I still don't like when you don't respect the "sequence of tenses" (Fr concordance des temps).
I know KrystynaD told me it was used but we "had an argument" about this and I managed to convince her, or at least, she was frightened when I theatened her to call Shakespeare.

I know your reason Muriel but I guess the sequence of tenses is as well respected in British English as in French... as you may know, in French it is strict (at least if you want to speak like a good journalist).
