Verbs and Prepositions: FROM, FOR, ON, IN, TO
FLUENTLAND.COM

Be careful with this diagram.
A verb has got several complements; the diagram provides you with only one of them: don't systematically use the preposition listed here above.
For instance:
- you borrow something from someone - the from is OK but only for the guy who'll lend you the object
- you separate the cream from the milk - yes "from" is good but partly
- to apply has got several meanings - "to" is fine but when you mean you're a candidate, you apply for a job!
- when there's only one complement, it's fine - you recover from an illness... no problem
- of course, never use a simple translation of the French - I waited you
- the lists for "on" & "in" are short, try to learn and remember as except "concentrate" and "specialize" which are similar to French, the mistakes are very frequent Smile
So, just be careful. However, I do like this diagram.

Such as in French, sometimes the preposition disappears for a pronoun: I gave you my watch / I gave my watch to John... However, sometimes the preposition is kept even with the pronoun; I'll explain you Let me explain to you how to deal with prepositions.

Gérard it is very difficult to remember all the prepositions. This diagram helps a lot but those who want to really improve their English skills  must parallely read or talk as much as they can !
