Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Hi Muriel,
Thanks, I'm relieved
What I can say, to begin with, is that, in the States, "root beer" is a sparkling beverage without alkool, made with plants...
Why the hell can "square" cancel "root"?
I'm looking for a special meaning for "root" (eg making think of round) but nuthin'!
Figurative meanings of "root" are fundamental, basic, deep... nuthin'
Is there a buff to find out?
Thanks, I'm relieved

Hi Muriel,
I assume this guy is Willie... when you are famous (poet, writer or whatever), you can create neologisms but when you are not famous, it's a big mistake (at school) and you get a 0.
Not sure a neologism is a solution for a language you get to learn.

Don't be modest and shy Muriel. You're famous and you may make up words in the domain of polylinguism eg English

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Still wondering why Grammarly.com created this pic. What is their message?
Do EMTs often forget the "pro" and use "crastination" instead?
Can pls anyone help understand?

Hi Muriel, hi everyone,
If I trust The Free Dictionary:
There're 2 other links but I suspect them to mirror TFD:

- (Dictionary.com) http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/crastination
If I trust The Free Dictionary:
Crastination is the same as procrastination.Cras`ti`na´tion (kr?s`t?-n?´sh?n)
n. 1. Procrastination; a putting off till to-morrow.

Grammarly Quiz
Ah this is interesting!
As for me "different than" is American /"different to or from" is British.
But given the question
I may be wrong.

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Bonjour Muriel, bonjour à tous,
( Merriam-Webster)Usage Discussion of DIFFERENT
Numerous commentators have condemned different than in spite of its use since the 17th century by many of the best-known names in English literature. It is nevertheless standard and is even recommended in many handbooks when followed by a clause, because insisting on from in such instances often produces clumsy or wordy formulations. Different from, the generally safe choice, is more common especially when it is followed by a noun or pronoun.
