Do we have that variety of sounds in French?
Can you make a difference between these sounds or do you think it's the same?
(remember I preach the French cannot hear all of these sounds
...
my friend recently laughed as I was speaking about loan while she thought It was about lawn
- I mean I pronounced lawn instead - don't ask me the difference)

lawn=lɔːn
Gérard you are right, it is very difficult to hear all the English sounds. I had a look in internet for "loan" and "lawn" sounds. I think phonetic is very useful for remembering...

Yes Muriel. I never remember except when I made a big mistake.
Very often b/w law and low. However it's a reflew now when I have to pronounce these words.
I also remember the surprise of a german conterpart when I was speaking about a spread-sheet (my sound was obviously long enough)

"either" here has got the American pronunciation, not the British which is very different.
