Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
We must absolutely know all of them!!
NB:
- notice "To make the bed" is an exception as all of the domestic tasks need to do: do the shopping, do the washing-up, do the dishes, etc.
- also notice to do my best but to make the best of sth exists and means fr s'accomoder de qqc.

I have always heard that to do has an abstact meaning and to make a more concrete one. Is it right ?

Hi Muriel,
Do you consider doing shopping an abstract behavior?
True that when the meaning is close to build, they use make.
Better to say daily task use do with the exception of to make the bed.
I'd say it's the first help we hear at school.MurielB a écrit:... I have always heard that to do has an abstact meaning and to make a more concrete one. Is it right ?

My comment is similar to Capiali's:
9:30...Nine thirty. 10:20...Ten twenty. Easy. Maybe only the Queen in 2013 is going to say the time in that way. Do not complicate what you can do easier...

Re: Internet English Resources / EnglishIsFun -lessons
Do you think French language is less varied?
Why the hell our ancestors took great care to annoy people with such words??
And we could find more examples of crazy words!!
(did I make mistakes?)

Hi Muriel,
Let's learn 3 per day.
Fluent English implies such knowledge and subtleties, don't you agree?

I repeat:
To be good at English,
it's absolutely necessary to master "synonyms"
-never true synonyms-
so that you can
better express what you mean.
