-> American lyrics "Johnny B. Goode"
Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play a guitar just like a-ringing a bell
Go go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Johnny B. Goode!
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Oh, the engineer would see him sittin' in the shade
Strummin' with the rhythm that the drivers made
The people passing by, they would stop and say
"Oh my, but that little country boy could play"
Go go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Go Johnny go!
Go
Johnny B. Goode!
His mother told him, "Someday you will be a man,
And you will be the leader of a big ol' band
Many people comin' from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name'll be in lights
Sayin' 'Johnny B. Goode tonight!'"

Il n'a jamais jamais appris à lire ou écrire bien
Il pouvait jouer de la guitare juste comme il sonnait une

Way back, in the 1990s, when I began to access the Internet, I often went to a Web site the name of which was "Languages-on-the-Web" designed by an Italian and his American partner.
They declared a good way to learn languages was to works with free documents in oodles of languages, mainly legal documents, religious ones, etc.
The guy offered me to take the Web site in charge and make it live.
Learning languages thru similar documents in various languages is possible but with bloody much boring work!
However it's handy to occasionaly work on nince specific documents
Why not songs that you love?
For example, "These boots are made for walking" sung by Nancy Sinatra...
-> the video -
->Lyrics
You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love but confess
You've been a'messin' where you shouldn't 've been a'messin'
And now someone else is getting all your best
Well, these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'
You keep losing when you oughta not bet
You keep samin' when you oughta be a'changin'
What's right is right but you ain't been right yet
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing
And you keep thinking that you'll never get burnt, hah
Well, I've just found me a brand new box of matches, yeah
And what he knows you ain't have time to learn
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
Are you ready, boots?

I have highlighted in red the expressions we find in American songs or poetry like wanna, gotta, gonna etc I am not familiar with. That's the reason why I have to listen carefully to an American song to get the meaning !

"wanna, gotta, gonna" are just another spelling showing the pronunciation.
When they pronounce "want to", we can hear "wanna".
I can tell you that it's not specific to Americans, my nephrew and his British friends often write like this on Facebook and prolly worse in sms's.

Gérard I think I don't understand the language of young people ! Fortunately my grand children who are soon in their teens will teach it to me ! They regularly visit their other grand parents who are English and live in Manchester.
