Re: American English at State
As you can see it, American Idioms refer to nowadays Am culture, here to baseball... what they call "Home Run": when the ball is striken out of the area and the batter can slowly and proudly run home (thru all of the bases without any risk).
A HR is the Grail of every baseball player (hence the mumerous slang words - "homer", "dinger", "bomb", "blast", or "four-bagger")! -> Wikipedia -Home Run
NB:
- when the batter hits a HR, all of the runner on bases can run to the base: it's named an "RBI"
- when the 3 bases are filled with runners and the batter hits a HR, it's a "Grans Slam"
- "four-bagger"
Explanations: the diamond is composed of 4 "bags", hence the term as the HR batter can go thru the 4 bags without risk.
En Français, on appelle ça des "bases" et la 4ème base (départ du batteur et arrivée) s'appelle le "marbre".
Baseball is a wonderful game that is played in France - my son played baseball when a teenager and I followed him for his competitions; my son played the quarters of the French National Championship.

Pristine is common while stalwart is rather old-fashion.

3-perplexed
4-furious

Will you take me out to dinner tomorrow? Today's phrasal verb is "take out." This means to go to a restaurant, club, event, etc. with someone you invited. When was the last time you took someone out to dinner?
