We hope the meaning of these words are crystal clear! Are you swamped at work this week? Are you an affable person? What do you find tedious?

Re: American English at State
Hi Gérard, everyone !
I have never used the word "swamped" for being very busy. I know that to swamp is to cover a place or thing with a large amount of water and i suppose it's like the French word "débordé"
Interesting isn't it ?

I was going to the gym to work out and to work off my extra weight when I realized I had to warm up first because I also wanted to try out for a gym degree without passing out.

Although it rained in the morning, the rest of the day was beautiful. In spite of the bad weather in the morning, I went for a run. What's the difference between "in spite of" and "although"? Find out with this [ltr]#AmericanEnglish[/ltr]graphic. What do you sometimes do in spite of bad weather?

Re: American English at State
Do you like to stay in your comfort zone? Or do you often try to get out of your comfort zone? A comfort zone is a place or situation where one feels comfortable, safe, and without stress.

Re: American English at State
Are you sometimes perplexed by all the different words in English that have similar meanings? Don't get despondent! Here's a graphic that might help you learn new vocabulary. When something makes you furious, what do you do to calm down?
> all the different words in English that have similar meanings
OK I agree.
Don't call them synonyms! As I often state it there're no true synonyms.
I agree that English is very rich; there're oodles of words with close meanings, and EMTs don't know nor use them all.
