Here is the one best example of
why proofreading after running
a spell checker is a smart idea.

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Hi Muriel,
> "The proper uses and exceptions of Affect and Effect"
As often, therre's nothing funny in the posting of Grammarly.com.
As you know, English language has got many homophones, or say many words very close by their pronunciations.
As you know it, English speaking people spend far less hours on grammar than the French, so there're many misuses.
Thru this picture, Grammarly.com just points out EMTs very often confuse b/w Affect and Effect.
What EMTs don't learn on school chairs, they have to learn afterwards, or ignore it thru lives.
What is rather easy on school chairs becomes rather hard as people learn by chance, accidentally and without method. Anyway!
Here're several web pages re this confusion:
- Affect & Effect -Web-ku.edu
- Affect & Effect -YourDictionary
- Affect & Effect -About.com
- Affect & Effect -wikiHow
- Affect & Effect -Quick&DirtyTips

You're welcome Muriel!
NB: pronunciation & to pronounce
The spelling is "explanation" (but to explain), translating the difference in the pronunciations.MurielB a écrit:Thank you very much Gérard ! Your explaination was very clear !

instead of "How do you..." of Froggies

Hi Gérard !
A thesaurus. I have an English one, which is a mine of treasures, and a great help when you look for the proper word. But I don't know whether you can find a similar one in French. Do you know of any ?

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Let me point out exclamation points are rare in English.
I remember an American lady who sent me a Personal Message
about a text received from a French user;
she didn't understand any longer because
exclamation points showed the sender was very angry
but the words didn't show this.

Re: Internet English Resources by Grammarly.com
Hi Muriel,
I understood it differently.
As the guy is unable to spell "engineer" correctly, I guess he means: "Well I'm hopeless at spelling but you know my asset is math."
I think you're right.

Grammarly
One is a subject (I) and one is an object (me). Subjects do and objects receive.
I gave her flowers.
She gave me a compliment.

Yeah but the examples above are not the source of mistakes.
I and my friend went... /
