I learn another idiom: "practice makes perfect" means " C'est en forgeant que l'-on devient forgeron". But it's not funny....
Re: English Idioms2
I learn another idiom: "to hit the nail on the head" means "frapper l'ongle sur la tête"

"faire mouche". It's more fun....
Re: English Idioms2
Florent "the nail" in that quote is "Le clou". To hit the nail on the head means to strike a nail precisely on the head with a hammer. Fig to do exactly the right thing.

It is interesting but Proust is a huge book and I don't think having time to read it. Nevertheless, thanks!
Re: English Idioms2
Hi Florent,
"Enlighten me" is the best translation according to WordReference.
"... shed some light on sth" is another possibility.
No, "enlight my lantern" is not good English.Admin a écrit:Thanks Gérard to "enlight my lantern" .

"Think globally, act locally"
"Think globally, act locally"
I like that quote very much. It is important to work where you are but at the same time, if you want to expand your ideas, work in networks with the help of those who have the same views. In that way your ideas can expand to the infinity.
