Muriel,
I had added a few words while you were writing (I received a phone call)
Here they are:

Sometimes difficult to find out in a dictionary...
It's because the form is so usual that any native can guess.
"Bestie" - Difficult to find out. it simply comes after "my best friend" shortened then ended with the beloved "-ie".

"Chum" doesn't surprise me as I know this word... "chum" is an old word, not very used nowadays - I don't have the time to write more as I've to leave. Seeya.

Muriel,
KrystynaD tells me "chum" is still used but mainly by old people.

Another meaning I just found:
"nouveau CHUM"

"Best regards" is often used at the end of a formal letter. I suppose it means that we esteem (admire ?) the person we are writing to.

No, I don't think so Muriel.
"Regard" means around "Fr estime/égard".

To me "regards" is not formal, so "best regards" is not either.
AFAIK it is mainly/exclusively used in the States (also by people who want to copy Americans Smile ).
"Regards" can be translated into "amitiés" according to my dictionary, so it's not formal.
There's a series of possible endings that change as we better know the other person from "regards", to Best regards, to warm regards, to kind regards, to warmest regards...

Tx Gérard. I sometimes find difficult to choose between " "cheers" "yours sincerely" "regards" "best regards" "kind regards" etc. When I end my letter.

An affix is a letter or group of letters added to the beginning or end of a word to change its meaning. Today, we'll start a series of graphics about affixes to help you increase your vocabulary in #AmericanEnglish. Try using one word that begins with the affix "-un" in a sentence below!

Hi everyone !
I just wanted to paste a wiki link about black Friday and Thanksgiving
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_(shopping)
Black Friday is an informal name for the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November), which has been regarded as the beginning of the country's Christmas shopping season since 1952

Hi Muriel,
I confirm "Black Friday" refers to the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving, which has also traditionally been a holiday itself for many employees; a day full of special deals and heavy discounts, it's considered the kickoff of the holiday shopping season.
It's colored in black to mean that the business is very good and written in black in accounting (red is the color of losses, black is the color of profits).

Many "Black days" refer to bad memory stock exchange crises.
1929 had its Black Thursday (-22% in session, -2.1% at the close) and Black Tuesday (-12%).
1987 had its Black Monday (-22.6% for the DJ).
Black Friday was a stock market catastrophe that took place on Sept. 24, 1869. On that day, after a period of rampant speculation, the price of gold plummeted and the market crashed.
