Sally walked in to the Dentist office to make an appointment.
“How much do you charge to pull out a tooth?” She asked.”
“It’s $130″, was the prompt reply. “$130!” gasped Sally, that’s ridiculous!
There must be a way for you to go cheaper.”
“Well,” said the Dentist thoughtfully, I suppose if we don’t numb it, we could knock off $30.”
“Only $30?,” countered Sally, “that’s still $100, you’ve got to make it cheaper.”
“Well,” said the Dentist after a long pause, “I suppose if we take it out with a wrench we could knock it down to $50.”
“Perfect”, said Sally happily. “I would like to make an appointment for next Tuesday, for my husband Jack.”

Here is a good example of the..the..+ comparative adjectives
Comparison and contrast are expressed by the use of the…the… with comparative adjectives in parallel clauses. This structure is used to show proportionate increase or decrease.
Structure: the + comparative adjective + clause + the + comparative adjective + clause

Barry and Hannah, an old married couple, are sitting on the couch watching TV.
On the show they were speaking about how to prepare in case of death etc.
“Honey,” says Barry, turning to his wife with a serious expression, “I want you to promise me, that if there ever comes a time that I am dependent on just machines and bottled fluid, that you will make sure to put an end to it.”
“No problem hun,” said Hannah, and she promptly got up, turned off the TV, and poured his beer down the drain.

Re: Jennifer Saunders Fan Club
Jim grabbed his suitcase off the luggage carousel and headed outside to hail a taxi.
A taxi promptly picked him up and they were on there way.
Twenty minutes into the ride Jim had a question for the taxi driver, “Excuse me sir” said Jim tapping the driver on the shoulder.
“AHHHH HHH” screamed the taxi driver swerving the taxi across three lanes of traffic finally stopping the car on the opposite shoulder.
“What the heck was that all about?” demanded Jim thoroughly shaken.
“I’m sorry,” said the taxi driver, wiping his brow, “this is my first day on the job, I’ve been driving a hearse for the last fifty years!”
