I'm surprised Muriel.MurielB a écrit:... Congradulations is a common misspelling ! Never heard of that word !
When you go to the States, you quite exclusively hear the pronunciation "Congradulations" (in fact, you mainly hear "Congrats/Congrads").
Grammarly mainly deals with native's English.
Many Americans write as they speak, hence the post by Grammarly.

Of vs. Off: That "F" Makes All the Difference
Don't get an "F" in grammar! Try these tricks to remember the difference.

Yes, but...
... there's also a big difference in the pronunciation (also a difference b/w BE and AE) that the French don't respect!!

Gérard i am reading an article about the new trend of drinking less milk. I have found :
"We are weaned off of milk as children"
Off and of in the same sentence. It's useful isn't it ?

I'm surprised by the sentence. I'd say We're weaned off milk as children. I'm wondering if I understand correctly.

Gérard I don't understand why morning and mourning sound the same. Morning is the first part of the day and mourning is the act of sorrowing a person 's death.

Muriel, "sound the same" here means that both words are pronounced exactly the same way.MurielB a écrit:Gérard I don't understand why morning and mourning sound the same. Morning is the first part of the day and mourning is the act of sorrowing a person 's death.
Take a look at the pronunciation codes ˈmôrniNG / môrniNG, they're similar aren't they?
Or open Google Translate -"morning", click on the loudspeaker icon and listen (do it also for "mourning").
to be convinced.
