All of the "intermediate students" have to know this... by heart - repeat and repeat, the music has to be in our heads, I mean that when we pronounce an expression in our head, it'll ring a bell - one form will be familiar.

A bit like with prepositions, these verbs are often used randomly in languages:
- in French in Paris nous prenons de l'essence, in French in Toulon, nous faisons de l'essence
- in French nous prenons une douche, in Italien, fare la doccia
- in Am-En, we have a shower, in En-Br we take a shower
- ...

To have a look vs to take a look https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/22827/have-a-look-vs-take-a-look
The difference between "have a look" and "take a look" is geographical rather than semantic. The former phrase is usually used in the UK, whereas the latter is usually used in the USA. (I am an American who has lived in the UK for 24 years.)
