Do you know what the name takes after?

There're other names: square academic cap, graduate cap, cap, Oxford cap, square, trencher, corner-cap... and is a part of the "cap and gown".

At, In, On there is no logic to this. It is better to learn the usage by heart isn't it ?

Yes, there's a logic but sometimes a logic of old times that didn't evolve: in when we're inside.

Let's not forget:
- congrats on... your success - "congrats" is somethig we often use when socializing: "on", not "for"
- to agree with someone; regarding the object, there may be several prepositions: with, to, on, about... meanings slightly different.
Par exemple :
- "to agree to something" signifie accepter qqc
- "to agree with something" signifie approuver qqc
